In commemoration of the 80thf Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia and the 112th anniversary of the company, PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. (Sampoerna) organized “Pesta Rakyat untuk Indonesia 2025” at Smesco Indonesia, Jakarta, on August 22–23, 2025. This event represented Sampoerna’s concrete commitment to strengthening people’s economic independence through improving the quality of human resources (HR) and empowering Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The event was attended by members of the Red and White Cabinet, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto; Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Maman Abdurrahman; as well as representatives from various ministries and institutions.
“Pesta Rakyat untuk Indonesia 2025” was created as a collaborative space for experts, practitioners, MSMEs, and the public to connect, learn, and grow together. Through inspirational discussions with prominent figures, workshops with experienced mentors, and exhibitions of leading MSME products, the event aimed to strengthen the MSME ecosystem, encourage innovation, and open broader market access opportunities.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, expressed his support for the cross-sector collaboration showcased at the event. “This event is clear proof of how the Indonesia Incorporated concept, as initiated by President Prabowo, can be realized in safeguarding Indonesia’s economic resilience through collaboration between the Government, entrepreneurs, the media, and MSMEs,” he said.
The spirit of collaboration among the private sector, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and MSMEs to promote equitable prosperity was realized through integrated actions from upstream to downstream via the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Sampoerna Retail Community (SRC) and several SOEs, including:
- Perum BULOG – expanding the Rumah Pangan Kita (RPK) network so that communities can access quality staple food at affordable prices, aligned with efforts to strengthen national food security.
- PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. – promoting financial literacy and inclusion through the SRC Savings powered by BRImo program and BRILink agent expansion, thereby broadening MSMEs’ access to capital and digital financial services via SRC stores.
- PT Pos Indonesia (Persero) – expanding the distribution of official stamps to one million retail stores through SRC’s network and broadening logistics service points across Indonesia, ensuring easier and more efficient public service access, even in remote areas.
- PT Pertamina Patra Niaga – aims to establish SRC stores as official Bright Gas outlets to ensure the reliable, equitable, and well-targeted distribution of Bright Gas LPG to the public.
- PT Telekomunikasi Selular – expanding digital access for MSME entrepreneurs and communities through fixed broadband services in SRC stores.
Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Maman Abdurrahman, said, “On this occasion, I would like to extend my highest appreciation to Sampoerna, which to this day has remained consistent in continuing to collaborate with other corporations in nurturing and growing MSME entrepreneurs throughout Indonesia,” he stated.
President Director of Sampoerna, Ivan Cahyadi, explained that “Pesta Rakyat untuk Indonesia 2025” is part of Sampoerna’s active participation. “This strategic partnership agreement between SRC and five leading SOEs is one of the initiatives accelerating access to goods and services across 250,000 SRC-assisted grocery stores. Sampoerna fully supports the government’s agenda by enhancing national competitiveness and driving industrial downstreaming as the foundation for sovereign development in favor of the Indonesian nation and people,” said Ivan.
This commitment was reflected in Sampoerna’s initiatives across its entire value chain, from upstream to downstream. In the upstream sector, Sampoerna and its supplier partners ran partnership programs with more than 19,500 tobacco and clove farmers through technical assistance to improve agricultural quality and productivity with guaranteed crop purchases. Most of these partner farmers also grew food commodities, thereby supporting food self-sufficiency. In production, Sampoerna operated nine production facilities and partnered with 43 Mitra Produksi Sigaret (MPS) owned by cooperatives and local entrepreneurs in 31 cities/regencies in Java. In business operations, Sampoerna collaborated with 1,700 local goods and services suppliers.
“Currently, we employ more than 90,000 workers, both directly and indirectly. Sampoerna also consistently improves the quality of our human resources, promotes innovation, and creates an inclusive work environment,” Ivan said. On the downstream, Sampoerna marketed its products to 30 export destinations and the domestic market, and worked with more than 1.5 million retailers across Indonesia.
Ivan added that as part of Sampoerna’s commitment to contributing to society and promoting social equity, the company continued to introduce initiatives aimed at empowering and improving the welfare of Indonesian communities. One of its latest initiatives, Sampoerna Karya Bangsa, offered various training programs for the public to produce skilled workers and encourage the rise of independent entrepreneurs.
“As the President mentioned, the strength of the Indonesian nation lies in unity. As a company that has been born and operated in Indonesia for 112 years, this spirit has been the foundation of Sampoerna’s business continuity to grow alongside communities, support each other, and collaborate towards economic independence on the path to Indonesia Emas 2045,” Ivan said.
“Pesta Rakyat untuk Indonesia 2025” is expected to be a momentum to strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation, expand empowerment, and promote people’s economic independence throughout the country.
