Ministry of Industry Appoints Sampoerna as a Pilot Industry for Health Protocol Implementation

The Government appreciates Sampoerna's efforts in implementing strict health protocols for the health and safety of its employees

Surabaya, August 28, 2021 – PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. (Sampoerna) was appointed to be one of the pilot industries for implementing health protocols by the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin). This appointment also makes Sampoerna one of the companies undergoing industrial trials to operate fully.

To observe the preparation for the trial, the Acting Director-General of Agro-Industry at the Ministry of Industry, Putu Juli Ardika, had the opportunity to directly inspect Sampoerna's production facilities in the Rungkut industrial area, Surabaya. Putu said Sampoerna has consistently implemented standard health protocols for the industry. "We appreciate all Sampoerna's efforts in maintaining the safety and health of employees, which are part of efforts to suppress the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic," said Putu during his visit on Saturday (28/8).

He added that in addition to health protocols that exceeded standards, Sampoerna has also met the trial criteria for essential industries to fully operate during the pandemic. The criteria include nearly 100% of its employees having been vaccinated, practicing social distancing, holding an Operational Permit, and Mobility for Industrial Activities (IOMKI). and use the PeduliLindungi application. "We hope that Sampoerna's efforts in implementing the health protocol can be a reference for industry players in their respective facilities," said Putu.

The Head of Sampoerna Factory, Markus Hosea, said, "We would like to thank the Government, especially the Ministry of Industry, for trusting Sampoerna to be able to carry out a full trial operation. This reinforces our commitment to improve supervision and ensure compliance with applicable regulations in all production facilities and company operations."

Markus revealed that almost 100% of Sampoerna's employees at the Rungkut production facility, Surabaya, have received at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccination. The achievement of this vaccine number is part of Sampoerna's commitment to vaccinate all employees directly and indirectly. To coincide with the celebration of Sampoerna's 108th Anniversary on 27 August, Sampoerna succeeded in achieving its target of vaccinating almost all of its direct and indirect employees, totaling approximately 65,000 people.

Protocol for Employee Health and Safety
Markus explained that the protocol implemented at Sampoerna was supported by a test, traceability, and follow-up (3T) system collaborating with local laboratories and hospitals. The production facilities are now equipped to carry out antigen and PCR swab tests accompanied by medical personnel. Not only that, Sampoerna applies layered rules before employees are allowed to come to work, starting from filling out self-declaration forms, checking temperatures to a compartment system that ensures the distance between employees is maintained and minimizes interaction between employees. Sampoerna also uses the PeduliLindungi application to support the 3T mechanism that has been implemented internally.

Sampoerna also requires employees to use double masks provided by the company, following applicable regulations while in the production facility area. Spraying of disinfectants is also carried out at production sites and public facilities such as canteens, toilets, prayer rooms, lockers, cooperatives, ATMs, etc., every two hours. "For us, the most important thing right now is the safety and health of our employees. On the other hand, strict health protocols can also support the Government's efforts to suppress the spread of the COVID-19 virus, which ultimately revives the Indonesian economy," Markus concluded.
