Jakarta, August 27 2021
– PT HM Sampoerna Tbk. (Sampoerna) celebrates the company’s 108th anniversary virtually. The 108th anniversary is the second anniversary during the pandemic, and Sampoerna commemorates it with the theme “Satukan Langkah – Bersama Kita Bisa”, a call to unite our steps and support each other to get through the COVID-19 pandemic together.

The festivities also mark the achievement of Sampoerna’s vaccination commitment, where previously Sampoerna had committed to fully vaccinate all direct and indirect employees of approximately 65,000 people. By August 27, 2021, Sampoerna has administered at least one dose of vaccine to all employee eligible for vaccination.

President Director of Sampoerna, Mindaugas Trumpaitis, said, “the achievement of this vaccination target is a significant milestone for us. Vaccination will provide an added layer of protection for all our employees and at the same time we hope this can support the realization of the government’s target to reach herd immunity.”

Sampoerna synergized with the Government of Indonesia and relevant stakeholders in carrying out the vaccinations, especially with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) through the Gotong Royong Vaccination program (VGR), the independent vaccination program for employees where companies bear the full cost.

“The majority of our employees receive vaccination through the VGR program, however on top of that we also encourage our employees to get vaccinated as soon as they can if they get access through the Government Program or other channels. At the same time, we consistently provide education on vaccination to convince employees to get vaccinated,” Mindaugas added.

Aside to education, Sampoerna also provides incentives to entice employees to get vaccinated, the company provides 108 attractive prizes including motorcycles, bicycles, and LED TVs in a lucky draw during the anniversary celebration, open to all Sampoerna employees who has received at least one dose of vaccination.

Through online platforms, Sampoerna also initiated a series of virtual activities under the umbrella “Satukan Langkah – Bersama Kita Bisa”. More than an employee engagement activity, the program is designed based on the spirit of togetherness for employees to cheer and support each other through the pandemic.

The 108th anniversary was also celebrated by channeling support to employees and communities through donations. The company donates IDR10,800 for every vaccinated employee and supplemented it with a donation of IDR10,800 for each post on the company’s internal social media platform with the hashtag #SatukanLangkah. Collectively, the fund will be donated to support employees and business partners who are recovering from COVID-19 as well as to healthcare workers.

Moreover, through the employee volunteer community, Sampoerna Volunteers Club (SVC) working with the Indonesian Red Cross since July, Sampoerna facilitates hundreds of employees who are COVID-19 survivors to become convalescent plasma donor to help others recover.
